Origin of name:  This area in Ecorse Township was settled by small farms from before the Civil War. It was not laid out until 1906. From its first subdivision names of Lincoln Park Subdivision, Lincoln Park Estates, Lincolnmoor and Lincolnshire, the area became generally known as Lincoln Park. That name was adopted when it was incorporated as a village in 1921 and as a city in 1925.
